 FROM THE EDUCATION DIRECTOR The role of Jewish Education is to provide the students with the fundamental skills, information and values of our tradition that will enable them to lead a more fulfilling life and to create a meaningful place for themselves in the Jewish and World Communities. However, the Religious School is not the sole educator of the child. The success of religious education depends on a working partnership between the school and the parents. The family has always been the strength to help reinforce through practice what is taught in the Religious School. Family education is active learning together to demonstrate your commitment to your child(ren)’s Jewish Education. Temple Beth Torah – Tamarac Jewish Center Religious School’s philosophy of education is dedicated to the perpetuation of the Jewish Way of Life. A high priority is placed on the education of its children and youth, as well as its adult membership. The following principles are used as a guide in the development of all educational programs sponsored by Temple Beth Torah: v To Impress in Our Students the Ethics of Judaism v To Develop Within Each Student a Deeply Personal Commitment to Judaism and the Jewish People v To Teach our Students All About Holiday Customs and Life Cycle Rituals Enhancing Their Celebrations and Commemorations During their Lifetimes v To Instill in our Students Real Concepts of Tzedakah As Acts of Loving-Kindness v To Help Each Student Understand His or Her Role in Klal Y’israel – The Jewish People And To Identify With Jewish Communities Throughout The World v To Develop Competency in the Hebrew Language Thereby Enhancing Familiarity with Synagogue Rituals and Home Observances v To Instill in our Students the Love for Jewish Learning Which has always been a Characteristic of the Jewish People v Opportunities for “Learning for the Sake of Learning” Will Always be provided in Formal and Informal Programs v To Develop a Connection Between Each Student and the Land of Israel Which Will Last a Lifetime B’Shalom Ava Phillips Education Director
